Dr Henry Liang Clinic
Obesity
Obesity is a medical condition involving an excessive body fat. It is defined as a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 30 and above. Obesity is not only a cosmetic concern, but also a risk of diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure etc. The clinical assessment and treatments of Chinese medicine for obesity have been documented in Chinese literature for over 500 years.

In the last two decades, there have been numerous clinical and experimental studies on the uses of Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture for obesity in China and other countries. The studies involved the efficiency and safety of these Chinese medicine approaches and some underlying therapeutic mechanisms were revealed.
